Break through emotional barriers – Sunny Chopra – Awaaz Radio Podcast
byawaaz.ca

In this insightful episode, we welcomed mental health coach and speaker Sunny Chopra to discuss the often-overlooked topic of men’s mental health and breaking through emotional barriers. Sunny opened up about his personal journey, sharing how childhood bullying and the pressure to “hold it together” led to suppressed emotions and eventual outbursts, driving him to seek help and eventually guide others. We explored the deep-seated stigma surrounding men crying and the societal conditioning that prevents men from expressing vulnerability. Sunny used a powerful “boat analogy” to describe the danger of isolation, illustrating how distancing oneself from support can make hope disappear like land from a drifting vessel. Our conversation also highlighted the profound impact of childhood narratives on adult behavior and the necessity of emotional awareness to break through these barriers. Finally, we discussed practical ways to create safe spaces for partners and friends to open up, emphasizing that true strength lies in understanding and expressing one’s emotions.

Surjit Singh's message is clear. The factory's "safety guidelines" are a work of fiction. To get their permits, they drew a map that didn't include homes, pinds and school.

Avoidable Environmental crisis in the Punjab
6 people from one family dead. A generation facing infertility. This is the reality behind the "Green Energy" projects in the Ludhiana belt of Panjab.

In the villages of Bhundri, Akhara, and surrounding hamlets, we are waging a life-or-death battle against proposed biogas plants. While government panels promise "zero pollution," our reality is black, foaming water and "kache naale" (unpaved drains) that seep industrial toxins directly into our groundwater.

Every single day, 20 crore (200 million) liters of untreated waste is dumped into our soil. We are now forced to carry water from home just to work in our own fields.

We weren't told the truth. The factory owners kept us in the dark. When we stood up to protect our children's future, our peaceful dharna (protest) was attacked 4 times. The authorities nod and say "Haanji, haanji" (yes, yes), but no permanent solution ever comes.
